| Elitegroup is one of the most powerful industrial groups in Taiwan with a strong hold on China. NB division plans to target system integrators (Sis) and the growing NB clone market. Clones now account for 50% of all PCs sold.
Each of ECS’s six main product divisions – MB, barebone systems, NB, mobile PCs, power sources and batteries and multimedia products now has its own R&D, sales and product management teams.
The NB division is divided into separate teams for standard NBs, DeskNotes and niche NBs such as the “Mini-NB”. Jinglian Technology will be spun off from ECS solely for the new Mini-NBs. Elite Group will depart from luring clone-type orders from PC retailers and focus on tapping OEM-based orders from brand-name suppliers.
Estimates OEM-based orders to increase at least 20% throughout. New Intel 915G chipset that features Intel GMA900 graphics card built-in will hurt gc makers, as they will not have to be purchased separately. |
