| HTC is the world's largest producer of Pocket PC-based PDAs, accounting for 48% of the world total OEM mfg (peer of Palm, Handspring, Compal and HPQ). Began mass production of its PDAs in 2Q01. Foresees huge opportunity in 3G market 2003. Of 8.5M total smart-phone shipments, only 2 percent of total global handset shipment. 04 shipment to reach 20.6M sets, 07 = 84M according to Gartner. Shipment volume in 2Q is expected to stay at over 50K/month, double the previous months. HTC manufactured around 40% PDA products and 90% worldwide PDA phones based on Windows CE. Big-ticket orders in 1H04 from such European and U.S. telecommunications firms as 02 and T-Mobile. To meet booming demand from abroad, firm will speed up plant expansion in China. Major customer MM02 has pulled out of Taiwan's mobile phone market. Marketing PDA phones and smart-phones in Taiwan through Dopod Comm.
3Q05: HTC to begin deliveries of first 3G PDA (WCDMA) phones by end of 3Q05. Plans to introduce 1 or 2 3G mobile phones in 05 with increase in models in 06.
